There are talks of banning women from working in cafés and coffee shops, if you can imagine that. We looked at the different reasons why the conservatives in Iran are persistently making a case for gender segregation everywhere they can, and also spent some time discussing ‘male’ vs ‘female’ jobs — we all had a different view on whether or not such categories are discernible and to what extent.

Next was the shit storm around the hacking and release of a bunch of celebrity nude photos. Where do you draw the private/public line? Why are most of the victims women? Is it a sex crime or invasion of privacy? Maybe celebrities shouldn’t take nudes in the first place (are you kidding me?!).

And, of course, the terrible problem of water shortage and how lakes and rivers in Iran are drying up like sandals on a beach.

In the second half of the show, our expert psychologist spoke with us about parenting and teenagers. When are teenagers adults? How much freedom should they have? How should they be disciplined? I ended up talking a lot about my own eventful, adventurous, contemplative, half-emo-half-nerd-half-hippie “girlhood”. I don’t recommend teens for everyone; but if you have to, keep a journal.

Anyway, as always, here is the link.
